The Refugees are a group of seasoned musicians who love the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and do our best to recreate the great songs they have performed over the years. If the Heartbreakers aren't on tour, we're the next best thing!
Mike started drumming at age twelve and, ironically, was kicked out of his home at about the same time. According to his mother, "Michael was singing before he could even talk".
He grew up a fine lad and played with a bunch of Bay Area bands in the 80's and 90's. His musical influences include the Eagles, Chicago, the Beatles and the drunk guy that sits under the Lefty O'Doul Bridge with the harmonica, guitar, and cymbals between his knees.
Mike is an avid Giants and 49ers fan. He enjoys long walks along the beach, cold winter nights by the fire, and fine single malt whiskey...or brown ale or a well rounded cab or tequila or rum or vodka (Shit, he'll drink just about anything).
Mike lives in Pacifica with his beautiful wife and three young sons which explains the beach thing, the cold nights and the booze.
