The Refugees are a group of seasoned musicians who love the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and do our best to recreate the great songs they have performed over the years. If the Heartbreakers aren't on tour, we're the next best thing!
Raymond Mavroudis was born in Athens, Greece, and again in Burlingame, California.
From 2nd grade to his 30th birthday he couldn't sit still.
His dad gave him a harmonica -
his school gave him a sax & drum -
his uncle gave him a guitar -
his grandmother gave him a keyboard -
his mom was happy, and needed a nap.
Raymond loves to travel - he was spit on by a camel at the Great Pyramid in Egypt, argued with a restaurant owner in Athens, Greece, made a miss-judgment in London, England after testing too much beer, and injured himself on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France - and yet continues to find comfort in Fremont, California.
The other bandmates in The Refugees find Raymond prone to accidents - he is not allowed to touch their instruments.
He likes licorice, motorcycling, camping, cooking, recycling soup cans and playing the tambourine.
He believes - If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity, nothing else matters.
